Cereal Shmereal

Chloe had her 4 month vaccination last week (delayed 2 months) and the doctor gave us the go ahead to start introducing solids. It wasn't that I was really waiting for him to say it was "okay", I think I've just been putting it off because she is so healthy & has tripled her birthweight in 6 months on 100% breastmilk. But my friends, the last few months she has clearly been sending me a message...at 11pm...at 2am....at 5am. She's hungry!!

So, I decided to pull out that box of rice cereal that's been staring at me for a month now and well.....take a look.

I know the first try is usually a big FAIL, so I'll keep trying. Any suggestions would be welcomed!

I am SO glad to read that I am not the only breastfeeding mommy out there that was hesitant to start solids! It took Jackson a few nights to get the hang of the cereal, but I feed him when I know he's hungry. We do cereal right before his bath and then I nurse him and put him down for the night... and he sleeps!

We started solids about a few weeks ago because like your Chloe, my Chloe was suddenly up every 2-3 hours to eat at night! The first time she made a face like we were trying to poison her. She sort of got the hang of it after a couple of tries, but she doesn't seem to really like the cereal that much (who can blame her - blech). She goes crazy for veggies though! And she seems to prefer oatmeal over rice. You might want to try that instead! :)

oh and p.s. . . . sadly it has not seemed to help the sleep situation at all! :(

My boys are 6 months today and only Luke will eat cereal, fruits & veggies. He took to it pretty well, but Nolan is a different story. The only thing I can get him to eat (when he feels like it) is pears. No cereal. I wish I had advice to offer, but I think if we just keep at it, they'll eventually catch on. Good luck.

We haven't begun solids; at Brayden's 4 month check up they told us to mix the cereal in his formula & continue to feed him with the bottle until 6 months.....since you aren't bottle feeding I guess that doesn't help you much. Sorry to be no help but good luck & just keep on trying!

I hope Chole is doing betting with her cereal, your new header pic is absolutely adorable!
